Commonly Asked Questions
Are you trying to compete with the two big parties?
Partisan politics have proven to be counterproductive and wasteful. Our approach is to simply seek the best information available to develop our policy positions, and provide these positions to voters and candidates. We will support any candidate who aligns with our stances, and in the future we may even decide to run our own candidates. In the meantime, we are happy to endorse anyone who faithfully works to fulfill our goals.
Is the current platform the final version?
We will continually update our platform with our stances and statements on current issues and events. Additionally, we are expanding our site as we continue to produce more types of content, such as our podcast and candidate endorsements. Our primary focuses have been on science and education, healthcare, economics and labor, foreign policy, and civil rights - and we always look forward to addressing new topics!
Will you be running candidates in 2018?
While we are expanding our platform and products to a more comprehensive point, we will not be vetting candidates for the 2018 election cycle. However, we are talking with multiple exciting candidates who are running independently and sharing their experiences for us to better help future candidates.
Is your logo/mascot a dolphin?
Is your logo/mascot a dolphin? Our logo features a porpoise - a close relative to dolphins, and just as intelligent and lovable!
What is your position on [any issue]?
Our goal is to understand every issue to the best extent possible, then present our stance on the matter in the most clearly understandable and straightforward manner possible. Since our work is thorough and well reviewed, each individual position takes time to craft. You can view our published positions and see the next topics being worked on at our platform page.
How can we get involved locally?
We are currently working on conducting a trial for local organization procedures, and will begin establishing state and local chapters as soon as we are able. Please watch for future announcements and updates on our chapter development, and contact us if you’d like to assist with operating PORP endeavors in your area!
